Célian Hirsch

Célian Hirsch is an attorney-at-law, currently a visiting researcher at Georgetown University Law Center and an affiliated scholar at the Centre for Banking and Financial Law at the University of Geneva.
After completing his studies in Fribourg, Zurich, and Geneva, he was admitted to the Geneva bar in 2018. As a member of the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Geneva Bar Association, he organizes webinars on a wide range of legal topics.
Célian regularly publishes commentaries on recent case law in banking, contract law, procedural law, data protection, and arbitration. His work appears on platforms such as the Centre for Banking and Financial Law website, LawInside, and swissprivacy.

An insurance company did not have the right to refuse to pay its insured client, a victim of a cyberattack who had made a ransomware payment, even if it claimed that its obligation to reimburse the ransomware payment would expose it to US sanctions.
