Lucile Bonaz

Lucile Bonaz is a Geneva-based attorney-at-law and partner at Gabus Avocats. She has extensive experience in litigation, particularly in complex disputes involving contract and insurance law, civil liability and tort law, as well as labor law. She holds a PhD in law from the University of Geneva, with a dissertation dedicated to loss-of-earnings insurance under Swiss law. Alongside her practice, she regularly publishes and lectures in her fields of expertise. She is the author of several works, including commentaries in the Commentaire Romand on the Swiss Insurance Contract Act and chapters in leading handbooks on insurance and liability law. In addition to her practice, she acts as a substitute judge at the Geneva Court of Justice.

Measures Taken in Relation to the COVID-19 Pandemic Ruled as One Event for Insurance Purposes

Through the application of an interpretation based on the principle of trust, the Swiss Federal Supreme Court clarified that all measures adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic formed a single insured event under an “All Risks Business Insurance” policy.
